There’s no better way to eat local than to shop directly from farmers (and the fool-proof way of making sure you are sticking to your 200-mile food challenge!). And Jersey City is lucky to have a few options in the way of not only the JCFC, but the farmers markets that are setup around they city from late spring into late fall.
Can’t remember which day the farmers market comes to Grove Street or Journal Square? Or maybe Riverview-Fisk Park? Check out the this great chart the city has on their website, by clicking here.
Remember what Barbara Kingsolver said in our April book club read? “Buying your goods from local businesses rather than national chains generates about three times as much money for your local economy.” – page 149 of Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life. It’s an investment in our community and health!
